Apple MacBook Pro –Thinnest and Lightest with Few Surprises

Apple finally updated its MacBook pro range in October 2016, the first major update since the original Retina models in 2012. Here’s everything that comes with this shiny new offering.

Thinnest and lightest

The new MacBook Pro lineup is much slimmer and sleeker than its predecessors and is more powerful and faster than before. 13 inch MacBook Pro is 14.9 mm thick and weighs 3lbs while the 15-inch model is 15.5 mm thick and weighs 4lbs.

Better keyboard and bigger trackpads

Both the keyboard and trackpad have been updated. Trackpad now has force touch capabilities and is two times bigger than before. Also, the keyboard has a butterfly mechanism which was previously found on 12-inch MacBook.

USB –C takes over MagSafe and USB

Old versions of MacBook Pro had USB 3.0 ports, MagSafe ports, Thunderbolt 3 ports and USB Type-C ports. But with the new ones, Apple has decided to drop the MagSafe and USB ports supporting only 4 Thunderbolt 3 ports. With this iteration, the Thunderbolt 3 ports will handle battery charging, display outputs, and even peripheral support.

Brighter Retina Display

The Retina Display has been updated in the new MacBook Pro which is 67% brighter with higher contrast ratio and has 25% more colors. The display resolution is 2560X1600 in 13-inch model and 2880X1880 in the 15-inch model. The display also supports DCI-P3 color gamut.

Smart and responsive Touch Bar

This is the biggest update made by Apple in its MacBook Pro range. The Touch Bar is a touch sensitive OLED screen that replaced the function keys. The magic happens when an app is open; the Touch Bar immediately displays a different set of tools such as a seeker that lets you navigate through the entire app without the need to use the cursor.

Price and availability

The three MacBook Pros are priced at a USD 1499, USD 1799, and USD 2399 respectively. The best place to buy MacBook Pro is from Apple retail stores, online Apple stores or stores authorized by Apple to sell their products.
